A Star is Born

By Lisa Kurniawan

Ad Astra is a Latin phrase meaning “to the stars” and it is truly a name well suited to represent the core of the company and the history of its inception. Looking from a simplified scientific definition, a star is born when atoms of light elements are squeezed under enough pressure and extreme temperature causing nuclear fusion, resulting in a newly born yet brightly shining star.

As Astra was born out of two companies, whose leaders bring their own elements of strengths to the venture: Janet (Be-Yon) for her years of experience in the travel and MICE industries and Ram (Zillion) for his expertise in travel technology and overall technology project management. The two indomitable forces – Janet and Ram – came together in November 2019 because they both saw the need for the creation of a centralized digital community connecting consumers and suppliers as well as suppliers with each other. They foresaw that it was time for the travel and MICE industry players to focus on collaboration for the good of all involved, instead of relentless competition, and thereby building a positive and supportive environment in the place of fragmented and segregated exclusivity.

This vision, and the mission of Ad Astra, are now further amplified by the unexpected and immense global pandemic circumstances we have been faced with in 2020, and the need for a comprehensive and highly functional digital platform is therefore even more essential and pressing. The company’s tagline says it all: “Better Together”. Now, more than ever, we need to come together with our combined strengths and unique capabilities to usher in the rebuilding period for the travel and MICE industries.
